Children’s Programs

The Winter 2026 session runs January 5 to March 14. 

Unless stated otherwise, our children’s programs are drop-in. On the rare occasion that a program reaches maximum room capacity, you may be asked to wait for some participants to finish the activity, or to try again at the next scheduled event.

Music & Movement

Winter Session: January 5 – March 9, 2026

Children and their caregivers are invited to join us for some feel good grooving. This program focuses on music and the importance of interaction between a child and their caregiver – so come ready to dance, sing and play instruments.

Ages 0-6. Drop-in program. 

Mondays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. 

1st Floor Children’s Program Room.

Babytime

Winter Session: January 5 – March 9, 2026

Engaging activities specially formulated for you and your baby, followed by free play. Enjoy a tickle and some bouncing, lots of songs, and some board books.

Ages birth – 18 months. Drop-in program.

Mondays from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. 

1st Floor Children’s Program Room.

Storytime  

Winter Session: January 6 – March 10, 2026

Are you ready for some fun? Join us for 30 minutes of stories, rhymes, and music. Those happy kids won’t even realize that they are building reading readiness skills as they listen and join in with our activities!

Ages 19 months – 5 years. Drop-in program.

Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.

Saturday Kids’ Club

Winter Session: January 10 – March 14, 2026

Looking for a great family hang out on a Saturday morning? Children of all ages can enjoy a fun art or science activity.

New! Youth French Conversation Circle

Drop in and join our new Youth French Conversation Circle! Practice French with fellow young learners in a fun, friendly setting, guided by a bilingual staff member.

Ages 8 to 12. Drop-in program. 1st Floor Children’s Program Room.

Please note: This is not a French language learning class. It is for practicing French speaking skills..

PAWS for Reading

At PAWS for Reading, kids read aloud to a St. John Ambulance therapy dog (and their handler) in our 1st Floor Program Room.

These dogs are the best and most patient listeners – perfect for helping young readers feel comfortable and confident. 

For beginner and reluctant Readers ages 5 and up.

Youth Chess Club 

Join us for a biweekly evening of chess fun! Players of all skill levels are welcome.

For children & youth aged 9 – 17. This is a drop-in program. Biweekly on Thursdays from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Children 10 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Drop-in program. 1st Floor Children’s Program Room.

Micro:bit Python Workshop: Sensors & Physical Computing

This 4-week workshop introduces text-based programming with Python (software) and the micro:bit board (hardware). Students will progress through the Python curriculum, learning fundamental coding concepts including variables, conditions, loops, and functions while interfacing with physical hardware components.
 

Workshop Dates:

  • Wednesday, February 4, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 11, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 18, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 25, 5:30-6:30 p.m.
