Just finish a [chief’s kiss emoji] book? We want to hear about it. Also, other teens want to hear about it!
You can earn community service hours for sharing your thoughts about books. Emphasis on your thoughts. We really don’t care about Claude’s opinion on Sunrise on the Reaping.
If you’re feeling creative, you can design the entire social media post yourself, graphics and all!
Submit your book review and optional graphic(s) using the form below. If it meets our guidelines, we’ll feature it on our teen insta and you’ll earn an hour of community service hours.
You do not need to complete our Teen Volunteer Training to submit a review. This opportunity is open to all students eligible to earn community service hours.
Guidelines
- Fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, eBooks, audiobooks and good old-fashioned paper bound books are all fair game.
- You must read the entire book before submitting the review.
- Book review must be between 150 and 300 words.
- Review must be your own thoughts about the book and in your own words.
- Remember your audience: fellow teens. This is not a school assignment. Write commentary you would want to read.
- Your review can be critical or positive – only you know how you feel about the book.
- 1 Librarian approved book review = 1 hour of community service. Up to 2 submissions per month.
Need some help getting started? Here are some things to think about:
- What other books would someone who would enjoy this book also enjoy?
- Do you usually read this genre or is it new to you?
- If it’s an audiobook, what did you think of the narrator?
- Did it live up to the hype or is overrated? Or underrated and NEEDS to be in the hands of more readers?
- Was there a particularly likeable/relatable/infuriating/surprising character?
- What was the vibe? Fast paced or more slice of life? Dark and menacing or bright quirky?
